Ravenwood Pet Services was created to support anxious, fearful, sensitive and rescued pets, and their owners.
My work is trauma-informed and behaviour-aware, focusing on emotional wellbeing rather than obedience. I help owners understand what their pets are experiencing, so behaviour becomes clearer, kinder and easier to support.
My approach looks beyond the behaviour you see. Instead of asking "How do we stop this?", I ask "What emotion is driving this behaviour, and what function does it serve for your pet?"
Emotions such as fear, stress, confusion, frustration or overwhelm can all lead to behaviours that look similar on the surface. But each behaviour has a function - to avoid something frightening, to create distance, to seek comfort, to communicate discomfort, or to cope with overwhelm. When we understand both the emotion and the function, we can respond in a way that feels safe and supportive for the animal.
I use positive reinforcement and gentle, needs-based methods. I do not use aversive tools or punishment. My focus is on safety, predictability, agency and trust - helping pets feel secure enough to learn, explore, and cope. I support owners without judgement, helping you understand your pet's communication and create realistic routines that fit your lifestyle. Together we build confidence, resilience, and connection.
Ravenwood is shaped by both professional training and lived experiences. My Romanian rescue dog Raven taught me the importance of patience, empathy, and safety before progress. My two Ragdoll cats, Sky and Phoenix, remind me daily how differently anxiety can appear in feline behaviour. I have volunteered at UK shelters and worked several months in France supporting dogs and cats with complex emotional needs.
I am certified in Animal Behaviour (EFM Métiers Animaliers) and hold a Diploma in Professional Canine Studies (Dip. BCCS). I am also certified in canine Enrichment and in Professional Work with Reactive Dogs from the British College of Canine Studies (BCCS).
Ravenwood exists to help anxious pets feel understood and safe, and to help owners feel supported, informed, and confident as they navigate their pets' emotional world.
